Ridgeway Minibasket Community Sessions

In partnership with City of Birmingham Rockets Basketball Club for Boys and Girls in Years 3–6

Weekly basketball sessions designed to introduce primary school children to the sport in a fun, inclusive, and progressive way. Delivered every Wednesday by qualified Rockets coaches, the programme develops skills, confidence, and teamwork while building a love for the game.


Spring Term (January – February 2026)

Wednesday 7th January – Wednesday 11th February (6 weeks)

This block helps children apply their growing skills in game play. They begin learning about defence and how to compete fairly while building resilience.

Focus areas:
• Using skills in 1v1, 2v2, and 3v3 situations
• Defensive basics: stance, staying in front, teamwork
• Fast-break and transition play
• Learning sportsmanship through structured games
